The needed infrastructure, high capacity power lines from pumped hydro site (normally expensive ) also needs to be considered. When pumped hydro is used it needs to be recharged. The recharge time could be days or weeks. During this time its full capacity is obviously not available.

Also, It is often not costed into the cost of renewables, that Renewables need a new/upgraded high capacity network ( copper plate network ?? ) to transport large amounts power to wherever elsewhere in the country it is needed, due to renewables un reliability.
